Ibrahem "Abe" Hassan

Head Coach

Coach Ibrahem "Abe" Hassan was first introduced to swimming by his father, whose guidance not only brought him to the pool but also shaped the way he approached challenges. Those early lessons instilled discipline, patience, and a respect for doing things the right way — values that continue to define his coaching style today.

Abe began with Blue Arrow Aquatic Club, later transferring to Richmond Aquatic Club, where his competitive foundation was built. He went on to swim for Fort Hamilton High School, earning recognition as a Top-8 finalist at the PSAL High School Championships. He also swam at the College of Staten Island, where training under Coach Michael Akalitis was a great experience that further added to his knowledge and understanding of the sport.

With over 10 years of teaching experience and 8 years of coaching, Coach Abe has worked with all ages and all levels — from young beginners learning to swim, to competitive athletes chasing championship standards. He continues to offer lessons for swimmers of every age while coaching SIAC's competitive program.

"Every swimmer, no matter their starting point, can achieve their goals with the right technique, mindset, and dedication. Build the fundamentals first, and the success will follow."

— Coach Abe's Philosophy
